  6. Elliott Boots - Round One British National Championship - Slough

    Hi guys

At last the British National Championship was underway with a new 2 day format which we were really looking forward to getting off to a good start.  The first round was at the beautifully prepared Slough track near London.  The weather was quite cold around about 10 degrees, and the track was surprisingly dry considering the amount of rain we have had over the last month or so.  The new format for the race series this year has 4 rounds and 3 to count for the Championship and an extra point for taking TQ at each of the rounds.  We arrived at the track on Saturday morning with 2 rounds of practice followed by 4 rounds of qualification throughout Saturday and one round on the Sunday morning with finals to follow.

  9. Reportage Elliott Boots - Première manche British National Championship - Slough

    Practice

Elliott has run on this track a fair bit so it wasn't really a case of knowing the way around the track, we wanted to make sure we had the car balanced and getting the right tyres to work in the cold conditions. We concluded because of the low traction of the track as it was quite dusty, To start with our Novarossi BTTS engine with a 6.5 venturi with a 9901 pipe and a 41021 manifold. which give us good fuel economy as we would really only have to do 9 minutes on fuel stops in a 45 minute final. Practice went really well. We decided to run the AKA impact tyres in soft compound, which were extremely good because there were quite a bit of concrete section parts of the track which generated a lot of grip.

    Qualification

We entered qualification by immediately laying down the gauntlet with a TQ 1st round, 3rd in round 2, 1st in round
